Gescha Album
The Challenge
Design a complete album package for an up and coming alternative hip hop artist. The peculiar sounding album title of Crayon Politics did not evoke any immediate visual cues. Furthermore, vinyl was making a comeback and the artist wanted to do something very unique.
The Solution
We had heard about an eclectic artist based in Seattle that utilized wax crayons. This seemed like the perfect pairing. We commissioned him to carve the letterforms of the band name out of Crayola crayons. He also created pointilistic photographic recreations using a grid of crayons on point. Utilizing the various shades of colour much like the pixels on a computer screen. Furthermore, he embedded portions of the lyrics in the piece in a form of morse code.
